2006 Tempranillo - Santa Barbara County

2006 Tempranillo - Santa Barbara County

What can we say but … Our 2006 Tempranillo is exquisite! It is a bit more fruity and spicy than our 2005 and has the potential of becoming one of our signature wines. Tempranillo as the primary quality red grape of Spain is very versatile and is often referred to as Spain’s “noble grape”. There is a triangle between Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Pinot Noir. They are very close to each other in flavor, tannin, and acid. This medium-bodied wine can be enjoyed now or, if you can wait, cellared and aged for a few years.

Barrel aged 10 months in American Oak. pH 3.63, alc 13.9%, 201 cases produced.

Suggested food pairings: Beef, esp. braised or stewed; Duck; Game and game birds, esp. served with fruit; Lamb, esp. chops and/or grilled; poultry, esp. roasted.
